Julius M. Shern

 

Pastor Julius Shern is a Christian educator and counselor – not of men, neither by man – but by Jesus Christ and God, the Father who raised Him from the dead. Through his dedication to teaching bible scriptures, God’s word is established. Pastor believes the affirmed word of the Lord, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” - Psalms 37:23

 

 

Pastor Shern was born sixth of 8 children on November 11, 1950 in Frederick MD to the late Charles and Marquez Shern. Pastor Shern has two surviving sisters, Patricia Miller and Rhonda Irvins – also of Frederick MD. He is married to Evangelist Linda D. Shern and has four children who then made them the proud grandparents of eight.

 

Pastor Shern received his education through the Frederick County Maryland School System and continued on for 4 additional years at Sojourner Douglas College in Baltimore MD.

 

Pastor devoted 3 years serving two tours as a combat medic in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1971. He went on to receive specialized training through the Institute of Alcohol and Drug Abuse studies at the Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene where he attained his certification as an Alcohol and Drug Program Administrator. After 33 years of serving Springfield Hospital Center in Eldersburg MD, Pastor Shern then retired.

 

At the age of 54, Pastor Shern gave his life to Christ and joined with his wife, Evangelist Linda Shern, into the body of Christ known as The Saint Johns Baptist Church of Baltimore City under the leadership of Pastor Lee E. Pearson, SR.

 

In 2013 Pastor Shern received his graduate diploma from the distinguished Baltimore School of the Bible which was founded back in 1931 and preached his first sermon entitled “Blind Samaritans, The Healing” based on the scripture Mark 10:46-52.

 

Under the teachings of Pastor Curtis T. Barber of Shining Star Baptist Church in Middle River, Maryland, Pastor Shern began catechism study and training.

 

Pastor Shern was examined by an ordination panel of Baptist Pastors led by the now retired Bishop Aggie Brown, SR at The Great Dalton Baptist Church of Baltimore. Pastor Shern passed his ordination exam with a score 98% and was awarded his Certification of Ordination, signed by all members of the examination panel, on January 25th 2014.

 

That year through the direction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Shern founded Saint Johns Bible Fellowship Church of Frederick (SJBFC) and was called to Pastor at the church he had planted.

 

Beginning with only 9 members from the Shern Family attending the first service, SJBFC has now flourished and has become the home to 105 current registered members.

 

Pastor Shern is certified by the Evangelical Training Association (ETA) to teach all levels of bible course education so all courses taken through The Saint Johns Bible Fellowship Discipleship Program, created by Pastor Shern himself, are certified by the Evangelical Training Association of Illinois and are transferrable to all biblical colleges and bible schools that are also certified by the ETA.
